Germander speedwell (Veronica chamaedrys)

This sprawling perennial has a beautiful bright blue flower with a white eye. It flowers from April to June and enjoys grassy banks on our downland. The name speedwell refers to the medicinal value attributed to some of the varieties of this species. Some believe it can heal wounds and cure respiratory ailments.
